In one Age, called the Third Age by some, an Age yet to come,
an Age long past, a wind rose in the Mountains of Mist. The wind was not the beginning.
There are neither beginnings nor endings to the turning of the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning.
This site has all characters named in the first nine books, as well as Strike at Shayol Ghul, New Spring and The World of Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time. I have recently rechecked the list, and counted a total of 1681 separate and individually characters to date. That is only the named ones, although there are many unnamed characters in the series. I have also made notes on the characters, including how I have filed them. I have also given special attention to mistakes and anomolies.

Please be aware this site contains spoilers so if you haven't read up to and including Winter's Heart: STOP. The story is too good to be spoiled by me.

Crossroads of Twilight
This is the name of the upcoming book 10. The book is to be released in January 2003. I can tell you I am so excited about it, I am regularly leaping off multi-storied buildings.

Chapter one is available online for free! Click here now.

Glimmers of the Pattern
The Prologue of book 10, Crossroads of Twilight, is now available in eBook format and downloadable through both the Dragonmount and WOT Mania websites. The prologue is called Glimmers of the Pattern and includes lots of special stuff like a Robert Jordan letter and signature. This will set you back USD$3.50.

Wheel of Time Character News
Release Date Pushed Back
Robert Jordan has stated that in all liklihood, book 10 will now be published in January 2003, where it was previously listed as November. He has said he wants more time to edit the book to ensure we have a better reading experience. There is more on this story, and a quote from RJ himself on the Dragonmount website.

New Short Stories
Robert Jordan will be releasing three short stories in the next five years, which have to do with the WOT series. One of these will be an extended version of New Spring, but the others will be entirely new scenarios - more bloody characters!

Dragonmount is one of the best places for current WOT news.

Ravens
Tor Fantasy recently re-released The Eye of the World in two parts, with an extra chapter at the beginning of the first part, called From the Two Rivers. A larger glossary is in the second part, called To The Blight. The new chapter introduces the series for "intermediate" readers and is from the point of view of Egwene at nine years of age. As well as extra information on existing characters, there were 8 new characters in this chapter. Click here to see them.

Search or Download
The search form will search for a name or part of a name, be it first, middle or surname, quicker than you can say "I reckon the bloke who created this site is top notch." As well, a downloadable version of the site is available. Click here to download the zip file (768KB). This is for home use only and not to be copied, or used for profit of any kind!

Ongoing
If you have more news, or any comments, questions, or critiques, I would be happy to hear them. There have been a few requests for a Guestbook, but I am not keen on them as they are generally used only for the purpose of public affirmation of the web site's author and their work. Of course I am always happy to hear your positive comments, I just don't want to display them to the world.

Entré
I have listed the characters in many different ways for ease of use, including by first name, by surname, and in order of appearance. Or, there is a list of all character lists, many which are of smaller groups. If you get lost, the site map may help.
